Licht und Schatten Tarung (German for Light and Shadow Camouflage) was a hard-edged dapple camouflage layout, common called Ambush camouflage. A innovative pattern, blending into foliage and sunlight shadows of western and central European forests. Jagdpanzer
38 tank destroyer, built on Panzer 38t chassis, was nicknamed Hetzer (German for Baiter). Number 234 indicates
2nd Company, 3rd Platoon, 4th Vehicle in Platoon. Its compact silhouette gave excellent concealment qualities.

German Jagdpanzer designation refers to characteristics : 1) No turret, able to mount more powerful gun
directly into superstructure, 2) Specifically designed for
Tank-Hunting purposes, contrasted with Panzerjagers which were regular tanks or tracked vehicles modified with anti-tank
guns, 3) Low profile and sloped armor plates.

Rollover
: Close-up of 7.5cm PAK39 L/48 gun, protected by 60mm cast mantle called Saukopf (Pig's Head), was gave armor protective ballistic qualities. Analysis noted Hetzer can knocked out a larger Soviet T34/85 tank circa 700 meters at its frontal armor, but T34/85 would have to close-in to 400 meters to knock
out Hetzer at its sloped frontal armor. T-34 tank - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-34

Limited gun transverse forced Hetzer to change positions
for optimal fire and to avoid its thin 20mm side armor
from being targeted. Initial Hetzers were sent to Eastern Front
in Summer 1944, assigned to independent Heeres Panzerjager Abteilung
(Army Tank-Hunting Battalions), about ten Waffen-SS divisions allocated Hetzers for its Panzergrenadier units (armored
infantrymen).

Inset 1 : Color photo of German Chancellor Adolf Hitler (standing in rear) inspecting the first assembled Hetzers in newly painted African Yellow base color circa Spring 1944. Note Hetzer still lacks Saukopf (Pig's Head) gun mantle at gun base. Contrary to popular Hollywood portrayal, when WW2 commenced Hitler no longer wore his signatory 1930s-era Nazi Brown Shirt uniform. Instead, he wore a variation of military uniform (also nicknamed the Political Uniform) in line with his title as Reichskanzler und Oberster Befehlshaber der Deutschen Wehrmacht (German Chancellor and Supreme Military Commander) as shown above. Inset 2 : Close-up of Hitler's Political Uniform playing with his German Shepard dog Blondi at Berghof-Germany. He replaced Nazi Swastika arm band with a golden eagle emblem of German Armed Forces. Since Hitler occupied a transcendental position across all German political and military circles, his outfit was quite conservative without trimmings, rank, or other elaborations. April 1945, during final hours in Berlin bunker, Hitler did not wish his dog to be tortured by advancing Soviets, hence had Blondi take the first cyanide capsule to test its lethality, as depicted in 2004 German movie Der Untergang (The Downfall).
