Pak40 gun rear breech painted black, drybrushed via chrome, done mainly as artistic license for surface detailing. Some modelers paint black muzzle tip to showcase excessive soot from continuous gun fire, I decided to leave it with gentle detail by brushing black pastel onto rigged surfaces, then seal pastel in place by spraying coat of lusterless Testor Dullcoat. Two triangular apparatus in front and rear of platform are gun travel locks. Pak40 In Action (mixed English-Russian dialog) www.youtube.com/watch?v=ry7fJyWryLY&feature=related

Inset 1 : RSO crew and 75mm ammunition shells/crates are free-standing and could be placed in any position. Crate covers set in either open or closed position. Green wrapped tarpin came from 1.35 Tamiya Horch command car kit.

Rollover : RSO Pak40 underside painted acrylic Dark Earth to mimic dirt/dried mud conditions on Ostfront (Eastern Front). RSO tracks were exceptionally difficult to mount, the kit used semi-rigid plastic to create the tracks, hence tracks could not readily wrap around sprockets - wheels - idlers. Solution was to soak plastic track in bowl of hot water for about 30 seconds to soften its shape, then quickly wrap it around the drive mechanism. In about 15 seconds, track plastic rigidity would reset, thus conforming to desire shape. A dash of superglue was used around sprockets and idlers to permanently secure the tracks. Inset 2 : German engineering prefer centimeter designations, contrasted with American preference for millimeter units. Hence, Germans label 7.5cm Pak40 gun, while American label 75mm Pak40 gun. Regardless of measurements, Pak40 was extremely versatile WW2 anti-tank gun, capable of being man-handled and mounted onto various wheeled and tracked vehicles. 7.5 cm PaK 40 in action (mix English + Russian) - www.youtube.com/watch?v=ry7fJyWryLY&feature=related

Germans did develop more powerful towed anti-tanks during WW2, such as 8.8mm Pak43 (also mounted in Jagdpanther tank destroyer). However, larger the gun, more difficult to man-handle the weapon for positioning and ambush concealment. 8.8CM PAK 43/41 - www.toadmanstankpictures.com/pak43.htm
