- Gray's Spitz suffered major damage over Dunkirk, but was able to safely return to Hornchurch airdrome. RAF lost 75% of its Spitfire strength protecting the Dunkirk beachheads, but was able to rescue about 340,000 men.

Unit insignia (shown right) consisted of a blue Lion Rampant Semée de Ly.
