  • Bright Warrior Program Upgrades | In effort to counter potential Thirdspace Aliens from invading Earth Alliance realm, crash program was initiated to upgrade b5 pictOmega to Theseus-class destroyers based on Earth Alliance Bright Warrior program, with efforts vested on upgrading existing classes Earth Alliance vessels with new sensors, weapons, passive armor. In above photo, Agathon mid-hull locked in horizontal position (to reduce structural stress) as ship prepares for acceleration. Bright Warrior program Upgrades Part I - efni.org/brightwarrior1.htm

  • Major caveat to upgrades was vessel's ability to accept gravitic drive system (manipulates gravity for speed and maneuverability) based on original design specs. It was not possible to upgrade all legacy ships with this drive due to design layout constraints, power consumption requirements, and crew complement restrictions. Bulk of Earth Alliance vessels lacked gravitic drive, thus leaving Nike battle cruisers, destroyer class Warlock - Omega / Theseus - Poseidon - Tillman - Nova - Nova Delta - Lupo, Centurion and Gladium heavy combat ships, as prime candidates. • Omega / Theseus-class upgrades were most demanding due to following : 1) required 5 years for complete upgrade, 2) ship type was most numerous in Earth Alliance arsenal, 3) ship modular design conducive for hardware upgrades, 4) Omega shipyards distributed among 8 space yards between Earth and Proxmia-3 colony, 5) "Damocles" investigation from combat after-action reports revealed specific weak spots. • Inset 1 : Agathon surface primed with Krylon grey aerosol paint, ready for final painting.

  • Theseus Upgrades | Theseus destroyer's Carbonat V armor plating padded outer nanotechnologychal layer. Omega weapons upgraded from pulse/particle cannons to Ion pulse/antimatter streamer cannons, while Theseus up'ed its weapons to Plasma/Phaser combinations. Engine/reactor block with Lockheed-General Electric I-75 GE110 with Westinghouse "Vulcan-VII" Fusion Reactors were replaced with Lockheed-General Electric I-75 BEW10-XN engines with Westinghouse "Vulcan-XI" reactors for added acceleration and to accommodate weight of new weapon platforms and armor plating. • During upgrades in space dock, upgraded Omega ships was given designation Omega-Epsilon class, but once combat debuted new ship classification b5 pictwas switched to Theseus-class. "Mano-a-Mano" shipwise, Theseus destroyer is superior in weapons - armor - engines to Shadow Omega destroyers (also called Shadomega or Omega-X) used in last battles of Earth Civil War. Some analyst would put Theseus-class up to par with Minbari Sharlin Warcruiser, at least in theoretical confrontation. Omega-X Destroyer - www.sienafoods.com/chris/Pi3D/csocdx.html

  • Rollover : Front side view with details on front hull weapons, command bridge, Starfury hangar door. Surface details were highlighted via Testor Flat Black paint wash with removal of excessive paint via thinner-dosed cotton swab (aka Q-tip), then final drybrush with Testor Flat Gull Grey. • Inset 2 : Agathon retained its 3 model parts, brass rod glue to front hull for effective handling since its housed delicate antennae array and weapons. For mid hull section, metal washers glued to centerline hole to prevent excessive grinding of resin parts are section rotated 360-degrees. Its triangular hulls center was padded with plastic styrene stripe (mainly to hide excessive crevices from malformed resin parts), small metal bracing rods (used for wrapping floral stems) cut to size for added detail.

  • Mid-Hull Design | One resilient Omega design is the mid-hull rotating interlock system (encapsulating shaft and rotor to generate artificial gravity). Section is so heavily armored and bearings structural sound that its operational failure was deemed only as remote possibility. Main concern was rotating sections interfering with firing arcs from the 12 defensive gun turrets when firing over the mid-hull contrasted with free broadside fire arcs. With more engine power, mid hull auto-interlocks its rotors via 8 hydraulic clamps / receptacles (4 at front, 4 in rear) in horizontal position to reduce stress from centripetal and linear forces during ship acceleration. To counter possible gyroscopic effects, counter-rotating flywheels on rotor bearings were installed, thus such inertia does not interfere with ship maneuverability. Nevertheless, mechanical stress on certain ship structures and bearings, thereby requiring regular maintenance regiment.
