Model commission client requested minotaur image for this ship, although Internet listed various minotaur icons, rescaling and retaining icon details on front hull fin was major challenge. Final candidate was a highschool mascot red charging bull, its image imported into Microsoft Powerpoint 2003 (slideshow presentation program had graphic scaling and anti-alias features), rescaled to size, printed on clear decal paper via color deskjet printer. Decal sprayed layer of Testor clear semi-gloss coat to seal in the colors and let dried before transferring decal to model. - Ship name AGATHON was spliced from model decal sheet since it included ship names for Agamemnon, Hercules, Vesta, Churchill, Apollo, etc. showcased in B5 series. Took AGA from Agamemnon, T from Vesta, H from Hercules, and ON from Agamemnon. Rectangular black outline was cut from Agamemnon and reformed to encase Agathon. Inset 1 : Agathon front hull assembly, antennae array details created from metal rod parts and etched brass. Brass parts were for rear engine power conduits, but elected to use them for front hull conduits powering short-range phaser guns on lower fin section.

Phasers are directed energy weapons, made famous via 1960s-era sci-fi Star Trek series, which presented weapon acronym as Photon Maser (weapon producing coherent electromagnetic waves via amplification from stimulated emission), but later altered it to Phased Energy Rectification (but scientists still state this is a misnomer for ordinary incoherent light cannot be rectified). Rollover : Front hull close-up showing hangar bay, antennae array, command bridge. Elected to mount all antennae pointing forward and downward, thus leaving top command bridge clear of visual obstructions. 6 forward weapons also prominent, 4 long-range plasma cannons (for planetary bombardment or close-in ship-to-ship engagements), 2 short-range phaser guns (close-in ship-to-ship engagements) on lower fins. Weapon barrels manually hollowed out with small hand drill since using electric drills may crack resin parts.

Sci-fi movies abound with references to plasma weaponry (ex. Star Trek's Romulan Plasma Torpedo) , which basically is a defense plasma focus apparatus projecting a short-lived electromagnetic acceleration and compression, thus becoming a copious multi-radiation source. Following Babylon 5 standards, Earth Alliance ship's hangar bay painted burgundy color to mimic dark red bay lighting. This color based on modern military technology since red blends in well with surrounding darker color hues (ex. WW2 3-numeral vehicle ID system for German armor vehicles). Inset 2 : Agathon mid + rear engine hull assembly, brass parts superglued into position, metal washer glue to rotating point of contact to prevent resin parts from grinding into each other.

Large resin sections set in place via Amazing Goop Plumbing Plomeria plumber's glue (from Walmart's bathroom accessories aisle). Its viscous nature and fast setting time readily enabled large part assembly. Other modelers use 2-part epoxy for resin projects, but hassle + cost-effectiveness of mixing and tabbing epoxy can be readily replaced by this adhesive. - Inset 3 : Beginning of Agathon construction, rear engine assembly was the greatest effort reshaping malformed resin parts, engine hull padded with layers of plastic styrene with gaps filled with automotive ceramic paste. Orange rubber inserts from household
electrical accessories and provided more surface area to glue engine nacelles. Black rubber washers were eventually removed before painting since its flexible surface cracked surface paint.
