  • Model's wavy dazzle pattern painted via layers of masking puddy. Puddy used was Walmart's wallpaper white adhesive puddy, hand rolled into elongated strands, placed in semi-S shaped positions. Model had 6 main engines housed in rear nacelle, and 6 thruster engines for along hull sides for close combat maneuvers. Federation Fleet combat experience during bug planet Klendathu offensive demonstrated clear-cut weakness of Rodger Young-class carriers in avoiding bug plasma when in close fleet formation. Athena's 6 thrusters engines alleviated this maneuvering drawback. Bug Database - www.trooperpx.com/RSTC/RSTCbugs.html

  • Rollover : Tamiya acrylic paints were used for all camouflage, airbrushed into pattern, then retouched with hand paint brush for smooth edged finish. Testor Dark Earth and Black enamel paints used for paint wash. Hangar bays and windows first painted with drafting ink liner, then paint washed with Testor Black. Dazzle pattern created by first airbrushing entire model in Tamiya acrylic Neutral Grey.

White wallposter adhesive puddy (similar to Silly Puddy but with stronger adhesive bond) used as paint mask demarcation. Conceptual drawing of Dazzle pattern used to eye-ball the pattern.

With masking puddy demarcating first pattern, all other areas covered with paint trimming masking tape.

Blue paint trim tape has more adhesive power than Purple paint trim tape. Thus used Purple tape more since risk of tape pulling paint off already painted surface is less.

However, Purple tape does not contour well over irregular surface or sharp edges, hence use Blue trim tape on top of Purple tape for snugged fit. Do not use regular Beige masking tape on models, for it will pull paint off painted surface.

Masking risk, wallposter adhesive puddy snugged better than Silly Puddy, but with more adhesive strength, it did pull paint off resin surface in this section.

Blemish easily repaired by sanding down paint edges and hand brushing neutral grey onto afflicted areas
