UAT top hull, middle rectangular apparatus is Nuclear-Biological-Chemical (NBC) filters, made from sci-fi and WW2 German armor kit parts. NBC filters can prevent contaminant air particles from entering crew compartment. Although battlefield NBC warfare and counter-measures has been around since 1960s, general public has become more aware of its impact since advent of modern terrorism in 1990s (ex. Rollover : Circular tubes in UAT front are grenade tube dischargers (firing either smoke, chemical, or explosive warheads), chemical term refers to riot control weapons such as tear gas (for crowd dispersion) or dye markers (to ink tag culprits for later arrest), tubes parts from 1.35 Italeri SdKfz 234 kit. Front headlights from 1.35 Tamiya Panther tank kit. Flushed access door on roof from 1.35 Italeri Panzer IV kit. Multi-tube apparatus bolted to top turret phaser gun is Hoffman Device (electrically-fire smoke dischargers), designed to conceal UAT from enemy fire during engagements. In WW2, German mounted electrical smoke dischargers called onto armor cars and tanks, but discovered the units can be detonated prematurely by light caliber enemy fire. Ensuing smoke engulfed the vehicle, blinding the driver, smoke sucked into compartment air vents suffocating its crew. Thus, WW2 German rapidly removed external smoke dischargers from their tanks. Instead, special rotating chute was built into top of armor vehicles called Nahverteidigungswaffe (Close Defense Weapon) whereby its crew could fire out flare pistols armed with smoke warheads. Inset 1 : Uber interior detailing of Aliens M-577 APC showcased on Starship Modeler website,  with full interior fighting compartments and scaled figures. From model depiction, enclosures on vehicle sides stored multi-tube rocket launchers. Side discussion among armor veterans question viability of M-577 design, namely with only 4 wheels and low clearance the vehicle can readily get lodged between axles, thus immobilized. Secondly, constricted driver view to one side of vehicle (assuming wide angle driving periscopes were not mounted).
